Our bamboo butterfly swaddle blanket is the first design I ever created and holds a very special place in my heart... Here it is, something beautiful, well-made and practical, to be cherished and adored by both mum and baby.
If you have ever visited our shop you’ll notice a common design theme running through most of our prints - British nature. The Little Art Collection muslins are about celebrating everything beautiful we have right here on our own door step, real life, things we see, things we do, things we can easily educate our kids on... And since our butterfly swaddles have played such an important part in bringing this vision to life, we are now donating 5% of proceeds from these blankets to charity Butterfly Conservation and their important work.
Butterfly Conservation is the UK charity dedicated to saving UK butterflies and moths which have sadly been in serious, ongoing decline since 1976. Their research provides advice on how to conserve and restore habitats. They also run programmes for more than 100 threatened species and are involved in conserving hundreds of sites and reserves.
In 2012, Butterfly Conservation launched an education campaign called Munching Caterpillars designed to teach young children about butterflies and moths. Here you’ll find lots of fantastic resources for family fun; butterfly ID guides, making your own moth traps, colouring in sheets and more – a really lovely way to get your little ones involved and to help save UK butterflies and moths.
If you would like to support our campaign you can shop butterfly swaddle blankets here
Extra-large and made from 70% bamboo these beautiful swaddle blankets can be used for almost anything; as breastfeeding covers, as large muslins for feeding, as lightweight baby blankets, as play mats or for tummy time, as cot and pram liners, changing mat liners, pram covers and more. We've even sold them as scarves!
Thank you for taking the time to read this post. I hope that together and through educating our kids we can support Butterfly Conversation in their mission to save butterflies, moths and our environment.
I’m off to print some colouring sheets….
